ThermaX™ PEKK-A 3D Filament

ThermaX™ PEKK-A (PolyEtherKetoneKetone - Amorphous) is a state-of-the-art polymer designed to meet the most demanding industrial applications. As part of the PAEK (Polyaryletherketone) family, PEKK-A offers exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance properties while being significantly easier to print than crystalline PEKK and PEEK. Developed in collaboration with leading material innovators, PEKK-A is an ideal choice for advanced manufacturing needs.

Why Choose PEKK-A?

ThermaX™ PEKK-A bridges the gap between ease of printing and ultra-performance. Unlike traditional semi-crystalline PEKK, the amorphous nature of PEKK-A eliminates many challenges, such as warping and dimensional instability, while delivering outstanding properties:

Glass Transition Temperature (Tg): 162°C for exceptional heat resistance

Inherent Flame Resistance: UL94 V-0 rating, with minimal smoke generation, ideal for aerospace and automotive applications

Chemical Resistance: Outstanding performance against a wide range of aggressive chemicals, including fuels, solvents, and acids

Continuous Use Temperature (CUT): Up to 260°C, suitable for extreme environments

Ease of Processing: Prints at lower temperatures (extruder: 345-375°C, bed: 120-140°C) compared to crystalline counterparts

Key Features and Benefits:

Simplified Printing Process: PEKK-A's amorphous nature results in less warping and easier handling, even on open-platform printers.

High Strength and Durability: Superior mechanical properties for parts requiring long-term reliability.

Low Crystallinity: Eliminates the need for annealing, saving time and ensuring consistent results.

Versatile Applications: Perfect for industries such as aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and industrial tooling.

Recommended Print Conditions:

Extruder Temperature: 345-375°C

Bed Temperature: 120-140°C

Enclosure Temperature: 70-150°C (optional for optimal results)

Bed Preparation: Use PEI sheets, Ultem™ tape, or glue stick on clean glass for adhesion

Print Speed: 20-50 mm/s for a 0.2mm layer height, adjustable based on experience and part geometry

Applications:

ThermaX™ PEKK-A excels in creating high-performance parts with intricate geometries and demanding operational requirements:???

Aerospace Components: Lightweight, flame-resistant parts for high-temperature environments

Automotive Systems: Fuel and fluid handling components

Industrial Equipment: Custom tools and chemical processing hardware

Medical Devices: Biocompatible and sterilization-resistant parts

Why ThermaX™ PEKK-A?

Unlike competing ultra-performance polymers, ThermaX™ PEKK-A offers unmatched versatility and cost-efficiency. Its compatibility with open-source 3D printers liberates users from restrictive proprietary systems, delivering freedom, innovation, and value without compromising performance.
